Minnesota Growler Series
Starting as a very generic Growler, this series grew between the years of 2015-2018 to include many regions in Minnesota. You can learn more about the research involved in building this series here: http://www.emlavart.com/mngrowlerseries
Emily visits the breweries available in a certain area, collects pictures, coasters, flyers and magazines through these visits, then takes the collection home to cut apart and reassemble as a collaged growler. Hidden signage and sayings are found within the growlers, and the reproductions are hand cut so that the Growler is raised .25 inches off the background. The reproductions are 11x14 and fit inside standard frames.
Minneapolis (not including NE) Growler- Rest in Peace Harriet Brewing, one of the first taprooms to open it’s doors, and also one of the first to fall. This Growler also includes Modest and Fulton, and stretches to Steel Toe on the edge of St. Louis Park.
St. Paul Growler- Lake Monster Brewing is a focal point on this one, and the color red really weaves throughout. The Tin Monster key ring was used in the lower left corner, and (now closed) Sidhe is among other breweries included.
Suburbs Growler- Added two on multiple occasions, South Fork Brewery was the one that started this whole series! This growler also includes Back Channel, Unmapped, LTD, Wayzata BrewWorks, 10K Brewing, Lupulin Brewing, Excelsior Brewing Company, Shakopee Brewhall and more.
Northeast Minneapolis Growler- This collection includes Northgate Brewing (now closed) as well as Headflyer, Sociable Ciderworks, 612Brew, Broken Clock Cooperative, Boom Island, Surly Brewing, and more.
Mankato/South-Central Growler- This Growler includes breweries from Lakeville down to Mankato- from the largest- Schell’s Brewing to the smallest- Chapel Brewing.
Duluth/North-East Growler- Emily traveled all the way to International Falls to visit Loony’s Brewery, then headed down from Grand Marais to hit Voyageur Brewing, Thirsty Pagan, Castle Danger, Hoops Brewing, Moose Lake Brewery and more.
Completed originals are scanned by Terry at Artist's Resource Group in NE Minneapolis, where his ever-improving technology has paved the way for textured reproductions. This Minnesota Growler Series is printed by PostNet North Loop and cut by hand by the artist. Each Growler is shipped in stay-flat packaging, signed and numbered.
This series is meant to emphasize the cooperation between the many MN Breweries, and is not an attempt to steal licensed material or ideas. To avoid any conflicts a portion of proceeds from sales of growlers is donated to Hammer Residencies in Wayzata, MN. Hammer is a non-profit supporting adults living with disabilities in the metro area. Learn more about Hammer Residencies here: https://hammer.org
